We keep hearing people speaking their opinions, good and bad, about moons coming and going. Some people think it's absolute bullshit and some people plan their holidays around the moon phrases. Why is there so many different views on this subject? Is there even a right or wrong? And does the moon actually affect us humans?
The last Full Moon of 2017 took place last night. The sky was cloudy and thick. I couldn't see any light reflected from the beautiful moon at all, I guess that's what you get from living in London. Even though I couldn't see you - I could defiantly feel you.
The full moon has been associated with strange or insane behavior, including suicide, sleepwalking and violence. The words lunacy and lunatic actually comes from luna, the Latin word for moon. It is believed that people were more likely to show erratic behavior during a full moon.
A publication on the National Criminal Justice Reference Service titled lunar effect- biological tides and human emotions, shows analyses of data on human behavior. Looking into how the moon's gravitational influence brings about social tension, disharmony and bizarre results.
So does the moon actually affect us humans?
Super interesting fact:
Once a year there is a massive synchronised reproduction spawning of corals in the Great Barrier Reef. It involves colonies and species of corals that's simultaneously releasing tiny egg and sperm bundles into the water. We're talking thousands and thousands of coral - AT THE SAME TIME!! This mass spawning occurs after the last full moon of each year. It only happens at night — resembles an underwater snowstorm! It’s one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on Earth and the event is sometimes called The Great Barrier Reef's 'annual sex festival' ha! Call it what you'd like. The fact that the coral coordinates the whole event based on the full moon, I found profoundly fascinating.
If the moon energy is triggering one of the biggest events in the sea on an annual base. Can we really be sure when we say that the moon energy won't affect us humans? After all, we're made of 65% water. Have you ever felt urges or maybe emotional instability around the moon phrases? Maybe you're all about it, maybe you haven't noticed the pattern at all. For fun, add the Full Moons in your calendar for 2018 and just see if you, in a spiritual and physical level, experience any changes.
I am a massive fan of the sea. Every since I was a kid I wanted to become a marine biologist. Quickly I realised that I wasn't that good at studying and went a different direction. On that note - never stop observing nature and question it's actions. We are all made from the same stuff. We belong to the Earth. Everything is synchronised. Everything depends on each other. So let's keep our minds open to explore and stay curious!
